What's new
Every release, newest first. Purrlet updates itself; to check right now, choose Settings › About › Check for Updates.
Purrlet 1.0.4
Keeps your Claude usage current while you work.
- Fixed: the menu bar could stay at an old number (for example 0% while Claude Code's /usage said 1%) until you opened Purrlet. While Claude Code is in use, Purrlet now checks every 2 minutes, plus once more when you stop.
- Background work counts: sub-agents and workflows running in Claude Code now keep the numbers moving too.
- Fixed: "Two sources, different answers" stayed after turning Claude tracking off. Turning it off now drops its numbers, and the note only appears while both sources are current.
Purrlet 1.0.3
A reliability release: Purrlet asks less often, recovers by itself, and keeps the right numbers on screen.
- Fixed: Codex installed with npm (including under nvm and other Node version managers) could stop with "Codex stopped unexpectedly" or leave a background process behind on every check. Purrlet now starts and cleans up every kind of Codex install.
- Fixed: signed out of Codex, or signed in with an API key? Purrlet now says so plainly and shows the
codex logincommand, instead of a raw server error. - Fewer requests to Anthropic. Opening the menu asks again at most every 5 minutes; the Refresh button still checks right away.
- Fixed: after signing out or switching Claude accounts, the previous account's numbers could come back for a moment. They don't any more.
- Fixed: duplicate notifications for the same limit, and a "reset" notice when nothing had reset.
- Fixed: after a night asleep, Purrlet could keep waiting out a pause from the evening before.
- Your Claude status line is safer. If Purrlet is moved or deleted, Claude Code goes back to showing your own status line. A settings file kept as a link (dotfiles) stays a link.
- Settings: a custom Codex path takes effect right away and is checked; plan names read properly ("Pro Lite", "Business"); notifications name the limit in your language.
- Much less disk activity while idle, and a safety net so one misbehaving source can't freeze the others.
Purrlet 1.0.2
Fixes for Claude tracking.
- Fixed: Claude's numbers could vanish a few seconds after appearing, replaced by "Claude tracking isn't on yet", when Claude Code was installed with npm under a Node version manager (nvm, fnm, mise, asdf and others). Purrlet now finds Claude Code wherever your terminal does.
- Fixed: a stray limit with an odd name (such as "Iguana necktie") could appear under Claude. Purrlet now shows only the limits it can name: session, weekly, per-model weekly and spend.
Purrlet 1.0.1
A small fix for activating Purrlet.
- Fixed: ⌘V now pastes your license key. The key field on the activation screen didn't respond to ⌘V (right-click → Paste worked). Copy, cut, select all and undo now work in every text field in Purrlet.
Purrlet 1.0.0
Your AI coding limits, at a glance. Purrlet lives in your Mac's menu bar and shows how much of your Claude and Codex limits you've used, and when they reset, using the tools you're already signed in to. No login, no API keys, and your usage never leaves your Mac.
- Your limits in the menu bar. The 5-hour session and weekly limits for Claude and Codex, as percentages with reset countdowns. Point at the cat for a quick look; click for everything.
- Pace. Each limit tells you whether you have room to spare, are on pace or running hot, and when you'd hit the limit at your current rate.
- A heads-up before you run out. Notifications at the thresholds you pick (50, 75, 90, 95%) and when a limit resets.
- Tips for stretching a limit once it passes 60%, written separately for Claude and Codex.
- Sit where you like: in the menu bar on the right, as an island around the notch in the middle, or on the left right after the app's menus.
- Make it yours: cards top to bottom or side by side, six bar color themes (including a color-blind friendly one), light and dark.
- English, Español and Filipino.
- A cat that reacts to your usage, and cheers when a limit resets.
- Updates itself. Purrlet checks for a new version once a day and installs it when you say so (Settings → Updates).
